Virgin America gets OK for two gates at DAL, new runway at Heathrow possible by 2025, Marriott’s new summer promotion

City of Dallas gives OK for Virgin America to get two Love Field gates

The City of Dallas gave approval for Virgin America to get two gates at Love Field.

Virgin America, Southwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines have been vying for use of two gates that American Airlines must divest as part of a Nov. 12 antitrust settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice related to its merger with US Airways. Airlines want access to Love Field as Wright Amendment flight restrictions there expire Oct. 13.

Heathrow airport says new runway possible by 2025

Both Heathrow and Gatwick airports in London have published revised plans to open a new runway at their respective airports.

Heathrow, Britain’s busiest airport, is competing against Gatwick, the second busiest, plus a second expansion option at Heathrow proposed by Heathrow Hub.

Heathrow Airport said a third runway could now be delivered by 2025, a year earlier than the group estimated last July and bringing it into line with Gatwick’s time frame.
