Gun restrictions under review

Gun advocates have lobbied Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne to review the ban against bringing loaded weapons into national parks and wildlife areas. According to the Associated Press, Kempthorne will issue new rules for public comment that could loosen current restrictions. Gun advocates, the National Rifle Association and 51 U.S. senators persuaded Kempthorne to review the rules. Seven former directors of the National Park Service, the Association of National Park Rangers and park advocacy organizations oppose any lifting of gun restrictions, the AP reports.
