Japanese airlines say 787 batteries replaced up to 10 times

All Nippon Airlines and Japan Airlines said that the batteries on the 787 have been replaced multiple times because of various issues.

ANA said Wednesday it replaced batteries on its 787 aircraft 10 times because they failed to charge properly or showed other problems and informed Boeing about the swaps. Japan Airlines said it had also replaced lithium-ion batteries on its 787 jets but couldn’t immediately give details.

The Wall Street Journal: American Airlines CEO Tom Horton in talks to become chairman of possible merged carrier

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that American Airlines CEO Tom Horton may be the chairman of the US Airways/American Airlines merger.

The negotiations are fluid and might not result in Mr. Horton’s assuming that role, which he currently holds at AMR, the people cautioned. He could become a vice chairman, senior adviser, take on another role or choose to retire, some of the people said.
