5 Great Restaurants in Hotels Off the Las Vegas Strip

If you decide to dine off the Strrip, the Nile Guide gives you five great restaurants to try.

1. Oscar’s at the Plaza Hotel

The former mayor of Las Vegas, Oscar Goodman, has given his name to a new steakhouse at the freshly remodeled Plaza Hotel. This is a restaurant with a subtitle: “Beef, Booze, and Broads.” The restaurant’s glass dome overlooks Fremont Street, offering patrons a great view of Downtown Vegas—along with the steaks, drinks, and ladies of the tag line.

Nonstop flights stop for fuel

Several nonstop flights from Europe to the United States were forced to refuel in Canada and other spots because of unusually strong headwinds.

A United spokesman said the company has been offering compensation as a gesture of good will in situations where customers’ experiences warrant it.

Remote Canadian fields at Gander and Goose Bay are the primary places to top off the tanks, but United confirmed that some of its 757 jets were also diverted to Iceland; Ireland; Nova Scotia; Albany, N.Y.; and Stewart International Airport, 60 miles north of Manhattan.

India considers opening up foreign airline investment

Normally India do not allow foreign airlines to invest in Indian airlines. However, due to the struggling airline industry, they may be open to it.

A government-appointed panel Thursday recommended that foreign airlines be allowed to buy as much as 49% of Indian carriers, and high-ranking government officials appear open to the proposal.
